Andy Turner (School of Mathematical, Physical & Computational Sciences) has received a research grant from the Met Office for a project on “Utilising Emerging Observation Networks in India for the Evaluation of Convective-Scale Processes (UNICon).”

Xiangbo Feng (School of Mathematical, Physical & Computational Sciences) has been awarded a research grant by the Met Office for a project on coastal hazard prediction in Southeast Asia called “Understanding and Prediction of Compound Ocean-Atmosphere Storms in the Tropics (SEA-COAST).”

Andy Turner (School of Mathematical, Physical & Computational Sciences) has received a research grant from the Met Office for research on “DepRession-driven Extreme precipitation: understanding processes and cHecking predictability (DRENCH).”

Jessica Eastwood (School of Psychology & Clinical Language Sciences) has received a research grant from Gateshead Council for a project called “A Dietary Intervention for Young People with Depression.”

Oscar Martinez-Alvarado (School of Mathematical, Physical & Computational Sciences) has been awarded a studentship by the Met Office for “Downstream impacts of embedded convection in warm conveyor belts.”

Manuela Gonzalez Suarez (School of Biological Sciences) has received a DTP studentship by the Institute of Zoology for the project “Does urbanisation and urban heat impact parasite burden and disease risk from the invasive grey squirrel in the UK?” (student: Emma Shrestha).

Sokratis Stergiadis (School of Agriculture, Policy & Development) has received a DTP studentship by Queen’s University Belfast for researching “The role of precision technologies in future grazing systems: Implications for animal welfare, performance and farm sustainability” (student: Grainne O’Doherty).

Paul Williams (School of Mathematical, Physical & Computational Sciences) has been awarded a studentship by Airbus SAS for researching “Aviation turbulence in a warmer world.”

Katherine Finlay (School of Psychology & Clinical Language Sciences) has received a studentship from Changing Ideas for “Developing rapid UTI testing approaches: validating the impact of enhanced diagnostics on UTI detection, patient experience and clinician confidence.”

Selin Kudret (Henley Business School) has been awarded a grant from the British Council’s International Research Empowerment Programme to empower women in AI research through capacity building and female leaders’ mentorship.
